Artwork Needed

Calling All Artists!

Have you enjoyed the virtual videos that EWON has created and shared this year? Would you like a chance to contribute to the creation of a new EWON video? For our upcoming video of “Whistle Down the Wind” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, we would like to feature art created by our wonderful community of supporters. To that end, we are asking you and other members of the community to submit a piece of your own art work to be considered for use in the video.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for original works of art inspired by the song (not by the musical or book or play it comes from, just the lyrics and music (see below)).  The art can be in any medium but you will need to take a photograph of your piece and submit it if it is not in an electronic format.

How should you submit your piece for consideration?

The artwork should be submitted in .jpg format to ewonmusicdirector99@gmail.com.  Please include your name in the email so that we can credit you for your work.  If you feel comfortable doing so, we encourage you to sign your piece.

What is the deadline to submit your piece?

Pieces must be received by March 21, 2021 to be considered for the video.

What else do you need to know?

Please be aware that, by submitting your piece for consideration, you are providing EWON with permission to use your piece in our “Whistle Down the Wind” video, which will be publicly shared on YouTube, our website, and our social media.  The video may also be shared with our community engagement partners including nursing homes, hospitals, and the Minnesota Veteran’s Home.  No remuneration will be provided for artwork received and there is no guarantee that any specific art piece will be used in the video.  Even if your piece is not used in the video, we may still share it on social media in our promotions for the video.

What are the lyrics to the song and what does it sound like?

Here are the lyrics to the song:

Whistle down the wind.

Let your voices carry.

Drown out all the rain,

light a patch of darkness treacherous and scary.

Howl at the stars.

Whisper when you’re sleeping.

I’ll be there to hold you,

I’ll be there to stop the chills and all the weeping.

Make it clear and strong

So the whole night long

Ev’ry signal that you send until the very end,

I will not abandon you my precious friend.

So try and stem the tide.

Then you’ll raise a banner.

Send a flare up in the sky,

try to burn a torch and try to build a bonfire.

Ev’ry signal that you send,

Until the very end,

I’m there.

So whistle down the wind,

For I have always been right here.

Below is a video performance of this arrangement from a past EWON concert.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

Please send questions to ewonmusicdirector99@gmail.com.

We thank you so much for all of your support as we have navigated the challenges of this pandemic.  We hope that, by participating in this call for art, you, too, can find an outlet for your creativity during this tough time while supporting and contributing to EWON’s mission.  We look forward to your submissions!
